Celebrities and their four-legged friends
Ever wondered what breeds some of the most well-known public figures love? From singers, actors, and royalty, we’ll take a look at some of the four-legged friends of the stars. Who is your favourite?
Henry Cavill and Kal, the American Akita
When actor Henry Cavill isn’t on set between film shoots, he’ll most likely be found with his trusty American Akita called Kal. The Superman actor aptly named his best friend after his on-screen superhero character’s birth name, Kal-El.
While filming the Netflix series ‘The Witcher’, Cavill had Kal on set the whole time. In fact, he’s been known to accompany the actor around the world while filming the likes of Mission Impossible and Justice League, and attending photoshoots and press events.

Chris Evans and Dodger, the Boxer-mix
Dodger is another dog of a superhero, this time of Captain America himself, Chris Evans. Dodger, a Boxer-mix rescue dog, was adopted in 2017 while Evans was visiting a dog shelter. From there, the bond between the actor and his pet has grown strong.
Evans wrote on Instagram: “I was filming a movie in Savannah and the scene took place at a shelter. I had no intention of rescuing a dog that day, but the minute I saw him I knew he was coming home with me.”
We’d like to think what Dodger would look like with his own Captain America outfit…

Audrey Hepburn and Mr Famous, the terrier
One of the biggest stars of her time, Audrey Hepburn loved dogs, and starred alongside a couple too.
She had a terrier called Mr Famous who appeared alongside the movie star in her film Funny Face, which was released in 1957.
Hepburn was known to love animals and was a big admirer of Yorkshire Terriers.
The Obamas, and their Portuguese Water Dogs
When it comes to presidential families, the Obamas are possibly the most well-recognised and followed of any in history. At least, the most followed with family dogs.
Bo and Sunny make up the six Obama family members, with Bo and Sunny who are both Portuguese Water Dogs. Bo joined the Obamas in 2009, as a gift from senator Ted Kennedy but sadly passed in May 2021. Sunny joined the family in 2013. Before becoming president, Barack Obama has promised to get a hypoallergenic pet for his daughters Malia and Sasha.

The Royal Family and their royal canines
It wouldn’t be a celebrity dog article without a mention of the royal pets. The Queen is known for her love of corgis, her first being named Susan. Apparently, the Queen has had more than 30 corgis during her time on the throne, and most have been direct descendants of Susan.
The last royal corgi, named Willow, passed away in 2018, but the Queen has two Corgi-Dachshund mixes and a Corgi adopted from a former Sandringham gamekeeper.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are often joined by Bluebell and Beth, two royal rescue Jack Russell terriers. The royal couple often visit Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, where Bluebell and Beth were adopted from.

Paris Hilton and her many chihuahuas
Paris Hilton led the trend for so-called ‘handbag dogs’ – which was started with her first chihuahua Tinkerbell being placed inside a luxury handbag. It’s a trend that can be linked directly to Hilton’s rise to fame, having bought expensive fashion accessories for her pets.
Currently, she has a micro chihuahua named Diamond Baby, as well as other dogs including a Pomeranian and a Pug.
The socialite also helps rescue dogs, with support for US animal welfare charity I Stand With My Pack.

Simon Cowell and his Yorkshire Terriers
As a music mogul responsible for X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, and producing records, you’d be surprised that Simon Cowell has time to look after three Yorkshire Terriers. But Freddie, Squiddly and Diddly seem to be his real pride and joy.
Cowell told US Weekly: “I take them on holidays, I let them sleep in the bed, and sometimes one gets in the bath with me.”
Cowell also recently added a rescue terrier-mix called Daisy to his family. Recently, all four dogs had a stylish make-over for a photoshoot, posted to Cowell’s Instagram account. Here's Freddie looking trim...

Miley Cyrus and Angel, the pit bull
Angel, a rescue dog, joined the Cyrus family in February, taking the total number of dogs to four.
The actress-turned-singer said: “"I am head over heels in love. Not sure I will ever sleep again because I can’t take my eyes off of her! Her halo shines for all to see and I can’t wait to show her off!”

Jennifer Aniston and Lord Chesterfield, the Great Pyrenees
Jennifer Aniston welcomed a new friend to the group in October 2020, when she shared a photo of Lord Chesterfield. The Great Pyrenees puppy joins Aniston’s two other dogs Clyde and Sophie.
Some Instagram followers were quick to spot the similarity between Lord Chesterfield and ‘Marley’ the dog from the 2008 movie Marley & Me in which Aniston starred alongside Owen Wilson.

The Weeknd, and Caesar, the Doberman Pinscher
RnB singer Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, is stylish guy. The same can be said about his dog, Caesar. Sporting a bright yellow jacket, Caesar certainly knows how to pose for a photo.
Let’s hope the ‘Blinding Lights’ singer takes Caesar out more than on just the weekend!
